Beginning July 1, 2012, Ardmore Telephone customers will see the Access Recovery Charge added to their phone bill.
The Access Recovery Charge or “ARC” is a gradual, measured, monthly charge adopted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This multi-year transition fee is just one part of the Inter Carrier Compensation (ICC) Reform. The Access Recovery Charge is designed to recover increased network costs for access circuits used to provide service to customers. Overall, the ICC Reform is to facilitate a continued investment in the broadband infrastructure.
Residential and Single-line Business accounts will have a $0.50 per month charge. This monthly rate will increase $0.50 each year for the next 5 years (reaching a total of $3.00/month in year 6). Multi-line Business accounts will also see an increase with an ARC fee of $1.00 per month charge. This monthly rate will increase $1 per year over the next 2 years (reaching a total of $3/month in year 3).
The ARC fee cannot be charged to Lifeline customers.
